Turnover Festivities at Ierne Island Weyr!

Turnover festivities at Ierne Island will be low-key during the day, since many riders will be out and about visiting the Holds under the Weyr's protection. Those who are unable or not inclined to leave the Weyr will be able to enjoy the two days as rest days, although they would be well advised to steer clear of the kitchens, for fear of being conscripted to work under Plenta and her infamous spoon.

Evening meals will be much more elaborate, on both Turn's End and Turn's Beginning.

Right before the evening meal on Turn's End, and led by the Weyrleader, there will be a time of silence in memory of friends and wingmates lost during the course of the Turn, followed by a recognition of notable additions during the turn - new Weyrleadership, new gold dragons hatched, and new weyrlings hatched. After the meal, there will be dancing late into the night, with harpers playing as long as there are people celebrating.

The feast on the night of Turn's Beginning will be similar in tone, though without the silence. As on the night before, the celebration will continue as long as the harpers can be persuaded to play and the Headman can be convinced to open casks and tap kegs.
