SONNETTE'S DAWN HOLD BEASTCRAFT CONFERENCE

SDH BEASTCRAFT CONFERENCE AND POSTING CONTEST**!

Late in Month 10 an announcement will go out from Sonnette’s Dawn Hold to all Beastcrafters, Holders, Stewards, cooks and interested Weyrfolk (both north and south continent) that on Day 20 and 21 of month 11 Sonnette’s Dawn Hold will host a Beastcraft Conference in which on Day 20 Cotholder Chorlee, recently moved to SDH from the north, will announce to all his formula for curing founder in runnerbeasts. During both days sessions will be held on various aspects of the craft, especially those beasts less commonly kept. On Day 21, races will be held in the afternoon showcasing promising young racing stock. Market Day will be held on both days instead of the usual one on Day 21; you might expect more numerous booths and vendors and more items relating especially to the beastcraft.

On the evening of Day 20, a bonfire and feast will be held on the beach, with harper music and dancing.

DAILY SCHEDULE

DAY 20

MARKET DAY ALL DAY

BREAKFAST from 8:00-9:00 menu--scrambled eggs, egg soufflé, sausage, biscuits and gravy.

9:00--10:00

1. JM Relem of GRH (npc Jennifer Miller) will chair a session on the care and raising of porcines. (Beastcraft Area)
2. For cooks, headwomen and anyone who liked breakfast, Rocbetta, head cook of GRH, will conduct a cooking session featuring egg and sausage recipes. (Kitchen)

10:00-11:00

Holder Chorlee will announce to all the formula and application of his cure for founder. SDH will have three runners for examination which he previously cured. (General Conference Room)

NOONING MEAL. menu: chicken and dumplings, chicken pie, fried chicken livers and gizzards, roast chicken and dressing, various tubers and veggies

1:00-2:00

JW Honelel of Keroon Beastcraft Hall will present a session on care and raising of chickens (Beastcraft Area)

3:00--5:00

1. Presentation and examination of young runner stock (Beastcraft Area)
2. Cooking session conducted by Rocbetta of GRH and Cook Eyella of SDH featuring chicken recipes. (Kitchen)

4:00 Lady Anlie will hear petitions from holders (Solarium)
6:00-- Bonfire on the beach begins, feasting around 7:00.

Menu: roast piglet, roast caprine and roast herdbeast cooked over a spit, veggies and trimmings.

Music and dancing until the wee hours. (Watch for a surprise during the dancing.)

DAY 21

MARKET DAY ALL DAY

BREAKFAST from 8:00--9:00 Egg recipes from the previous day’s cooking session, ham, biscuits and gravy, fried tubers.

9:00-10:00

Cotholder Geralid (npc) of SDH will lead a session introducing a new strain of meat caprines he has developed (two of which were served up for dinner the previous night) See “SDH: A Different Sort of Beast (1)” for info. (Beastcraft Area)

No formal cooking sessions are planned for day 20, but no doubt cooks and headwomen will get together to discuss all the new recipes. ;)

10:00-11:00

Cotholder Menkel (npc) of SDH will lead a session on the training of riding and pack mules in addition to mules as guard animals. See: “SDH: A Different Sort of Beast (1)” for info (Beastcraft area)

NOONING MEAL: chicken soup, chicken pie and meat rolls (porcine, caprine and herdbeast from last night’s feast) mashed tubers, finger roots, mixed greens

ALL AFTERNOON: Runner races for young prospective racers; for some it will be their first race. (Runner Field)

After the races, most will depart via dragon to their respective holds; if you want to stay for dinner, come on in and sit down--leftovers from the previous two days. Some will also be remaining for the evening and will depart next morning.
 

**POSTING CONTEST:

MJ Dameron is sponsoring a contest (Council approved) for the best single post about the conference, the prize to be a Windstone egg with eyes peeking out--don’t miss this chance to have your very own dragon egg!

Rules for the contest:

  1. Please wait for a control post to go out announcing the beginning of the Conference.
  2. If you want your post judged in the contest, please put SDH:Contest followed by the title of your post (example--SDH: Contest: A Day at The Conference).
  3. The post must involve some aspect of the Conference events (that is, please don’t enter a post which could have happened anyplace anytime).
  4. Current PCs or ONPCs may be used, or you can make up totally new and unique NPCs for this contest.
  5. Yes, grammar, punctuation and spelling will count.
  6. Only one post per member for the contest, so start planning now.
  7. The contest will run for two weeks following the RT date of the beginning of the conference. After that the contest will be closed and the winner announced within the week.
  8. The winner will have to provide MJ with a mailing address in order to receive your prize, so if you are not comfy with that, there won’t be any use to enter.
