| Sonnette's Dawn Hold Turnover Celebration |
![]()
Pern dates (mdt): M13 D28 T38 through Turnover
M13 D28
The festivities will start on M13 D28 with runner races for those beasts as yet untried, for which no prizes shall be given. The people of the Hold will also be hard at work putting up the stage in front of the Main Hold building and pickets and tents near the runner field.
The beastcrafter market shall be set up near the Runner Field, while the more universal market shall occupy its usual space in the Hold's courtyard.
Turn's End
On the morning of Turn's End, Lady Holder Anlie will perform her usual duty of listening to the grievances and petitions of those people under her jurisdiction. Once all the formalities are over, the fun begins with a feast in the courtyard in front of the Main Hold building.
The afternoon provides a chance for the younglings of Sonnette's Dawn lands to show off their riding skills on the Runner Field. The age groups shall be ten Turns and younger, and ten to fourteen Turns. All children under the age of apprenticeship shall first report to Master Konnor and his journeymen to check that they have enough skill to enter the races. Also, for these youngling races, no runner under the age of 12 Turns shall be used. Small prizes shall be given to the winners of these races.
The area just east of the Smithcraft area shall be the site for an afternoon of fun games and races. These shall include 'egg and spoon' races (although with stones instead of eggs), three legged races, wheelbarrow races and the like. Small prizes shall be given to the winners of these races.
The evening shall involve feasting, dancing (with harpers accompanying with music) and, for those not inclined to join in with the dancing, an area for board games to be played.
Turn's Beginning
The Runner Field is the main focus of activities for most of the day, with the adult runner races taking part. Prizes shall be offered to the winners of these races: 4 marks for first place, 3 for second, and 2 for third. Entry fee for all races will be 1/4 mark.
Late afternoon offers a repeat at the Sonnette's Dawn Hold Turnover - a show of the latest fashions created by the Hold's weavers which will take place on a stage in front of the Main Hold building. Master Corrai shall be talking the audience through her craft's latest creations for people of all walks of life (a notice shall be sent out a sevenday in advance asking for volunteers to model these fine examples of Weavercraft handiwork).
Turnover will end with a feast and a night of dancing. This turn the festivities will end in a dancing contest with three dances of increasing speed. Even one foot in the wrong place or time will bring about elimination. The prize winning pair will be the proud winners of a bolt of fine cloth. Email Lady Anlie to apply as the winning pair.
