Volcano Eruption and Ash Fall | |
Pern dates (mdt): 4.6.39 to 5.24.39
Month 4 day 6: Just off the coast of Western Gate Sea Hold (NPC location that made up for the purpose of this storyline - also called Manite Sea Hold after the Holder) ash will start rising from the sea; not a significant amount yet, just enough to let everyone know that a volcano is there. People will occasionally cough but nothing major. Naturally watchriders on sweeps will notice this and report it to the Wingleaders and Weyrleaders. After a few days, Thread's End Hold may see some ash from the wind but not much.
Month 4 day 14: The ash increases to an alarming amount, making Healers gather and discuss aiding and sending people in to help keep an eye on the overall health of the Holds' people. It will be determined by Imiya (TEW-npc), Corson (SDH-npc), Fendlendy (DH-npc), and Caljah (TEHH-npc) in a group meeting at TEW that all non-essential people as well as prime livestock will be sent to SDH. There will also be an increased number of healers for the stubborn Holders who remain (which will be all uninjured men and some women to cook).
Month 4 day 27: The Masters convene to order all remaining residents of Western Gate Sea Hold to evacuate. Healers move to the nearer Holds to keep an eye on residents there (a third of healers will be removed and return to original post).
Month 5 day 2: Eruption! Any remaining personnel are evacuated to SDH. The nearer holds bring livestock to other holds until it is safe for most of the residents of those holds go to SDH and DH. During evacuation of Craftsmen monitoring the eruption a young blue dragon's wings are burned from hot ash and is housed at SDH until his wings are healed safe enough to return to TEW.
Month 5 day 16: The Masters give permission to limited number of Holders to return to Hold to check on safety as well as the needs and to start preparing the Hold for the return of the remaining residents.
Month 5 day 24: The Master declare the emergency over, all Holders and livestock return to their Holds, extra Healers are sent (only about three and two extra beast healers) to the Western Gate Sea Hold to make sure that there are no additional breathing problems with the residents.
Other NPC Holds that will be mention will be Sallin Hold and Natacia Beast Hold

If you look at the flight sector of TEW, if you follow the line of E1 over to W1 it will hit just above where the line is, off shore about a quarter of a mile. SWH will receive some ash but no where near the amount of minor cotholds and Hall in the immediate area of the volcano.
