Persona : Alionette
Writing Status : NPC/Owned
Age : 43
Gender : Female
Rank/Craft : Kronel's wife, mother/foster mother
Residence : Ierne Island Weyr
Physical Description : Alionette is of medium height, buxom with wide hips, yet graceful. She has attractive legs, although her skirts and dresses constantly cover them. She likes to wear her long red hair loose unless she is cleaning, cooking, or helping Kronel at the smithy when he lets her. Her hazel eyes are constantly twinkling if they are not snapping in anger at a child or her husband.
Personality : Alionette is warm and loving. She is outgoing and enjoys the ruckus of children around her. Controlling the run of her household, she will not tolerate any nonsense where her family is concerned. She has been known to have major confrontations with her husband Kronel over what would be right for the family, yet she couldn't imagine spending the rest of her life with someone else. She does have moments when she likes to be alone. During those times, she will visit dragonrider friends, weave items for her family and friends, take walks, or make rare visits to Dolphin Hall.
Life Story : Alionette was born in Telgar. She came from a big, loving family which influenced her to have a big one of her own. Her father Allonand was a journeyman smith at the Smithcraft Hall. Her mother Cionette was a journeywoman harper. The couple had three boys and four girls with Alionette being the second oldest girl.
Alionette enjoyed her childhood. She met many people through her father's teaching at the Smithcraft Hall. She would haunt her father's classes and assist him and her brothers, but she never took the craft seriously. She always believed she would be a weaver, a skill she learned from her mother's dad. Then she met Kronel and her priorities immediately changed...
They met at the ceremony where he walked the tables to become a journeyman smith. At seventeen, Alionette experienced a passion with Kronel that was new to her. She found it exhilarating and freeing. Soon enough, she became pregnant, and Kronel was willing to marry her. Their first child was a girl.
Two turns later, Alionette gave birth to a boy. Two turns after the first boy another one arrived. Another two turns later, a girl joined the family. Alionette had complications with that birth, and the baby was born with a defect that caused her to be slow in development. At first, Alionette felt guilty for having failed in childbirth until the child's love for her and the rest of the family encouraged her to have more children. Alionette enjoyed the sounds of children during the day. Their outlook on life always fascinated her. She encouraged her children to have their friends visit. Thus, it was natural for Alionette to adopt two of those friends when their parents had died during a Threadfall.
After Kronel became a Master Smith, Alionette had her glory by giving birth to twin girls. A turn later, Alionette found herself moving her and her clutch to Crom where Kronel received a position at the Minercrafthall. While Kronel worked, she and the children kept themselves busy by making friends with the children at the Hall. Soon, she was pregnant again and fostering more children.
After living and settling with her brood in Crom for ten Turns, Alionette started to hear rumors around the Hall via her children about a new Weyr being created in the Southern Continent. The children believed there was nothing more wonderful on Pern than to live among dragons. Alionette found their enthusiasm contagious. Although she didn't like the idea of moving again, Alionette knew Kronel should be the Master Smith at the new Weyr. With the children's help, Alionette pressured Kronel into applying for the position, ignoring his arguments and whimpering.
Upon arrival at Ierne Island Weyr, the smith family settled into one of the weyrs because the cavern complexes put aside as crafter quarters weren't big enough to accommodate all of them. Things still became crowded. Alionette's passion for children caused her to eagerly take on several fosterlings born to dragonriders and filled the small space they had gained. She kept insisting on feeding her family herself instead of letting them take the common meals at the dining cavern. Her good cooking soon attracted the newfound friends of the kids, crowding her kitchen at mealtimes with -- much to her delight -- childish laughter and chatter. Her husband rarely complained, although she soon suspected that some of his late night smithy projects had more to do with family avoidance than with actual work.Last updated on 4-Jan-04.
