Physical Description : Aren is very short and thin, with whipcord muscles from years of hard labor on both continents. Her eyes are light blue, and her hair is medium brown with flashes of chestnut. She keeps it in a gentle shoulder-length style, just long enough to tie back under a flying helmet. Removed from the abusive influence of her former husband, Aren smiles and laughs freely and, though she doesn't realize it, has drawn the admiration of more than one of the Weyr's riders.
Personality : Though she is still unsure of herself, especially of the respect afforded her by virtue of her bond with Hallideth, Aren is growing more confident with the unquestioning support that she finds from her beloved gold and her steadfast friends at Ierne Island.
She has taken to the administrative and organizational aspects of life as a gold rider like a fish to water, and has found that she actually enjoys some of the chores that she used to dread. On the other hand, politics and Weyr-Hold relationships baffle and confuse her. Given her choice, she'll stick with internal administration and let others handle the rest.
Life Story : Aren was born the daughter of a minor holder in the northern continent. Her bloom of beauty early in life led her father to give her in marriage to Sidret, the second son of a neighboring cotholder with the aim of increasing profit for both families. Sidret's abusive nature soon became apparent, though he took great pains to hide it from Aren's family, eventually forcing her to move south.
Aren was Searched for Cassimeth and Kiornath's double clutches at Ierne Island Weyr, and declined initially, but the idea of leaving Sidret had been planted in her head. Finally, an extreme episode of abuse led Aren to leave Greylen Hold and her husband of nine Turns, even though there was a blizzard blowing outside. A sweeprider found her unconscious and brought her to the Weyr's infirmary, where she was treated for hypothermia and frostbite. Aren accepted the Search, and waited to stand on the Sands for both clutches.
Sidret attended the second Hatching, not knowing Aren's whereabouts and without her knowledge. When he found out that she was a Candidate, he tried to abduct her and return to Greylen Hold. In doing so, he managed to injure a bronze rider and disrupt the Hatching, causing great distress to the queen, Cassimeth, and all the other dragons present. He was restrained, and Aren was allowed to return to the Hatching Sands, where she Impressed the last remaining dragonet - a lovely golden queen.
Several days later, a trial was held for Sidret. Lady Jianna, as his Lady Holder, was present, as were Weyrleaders Cr'leb and Pavielle. After hearing the testimonies, Lady Jianna banished Sidret from Green Ridge Hold and branded him with a mark on his cheek so that all would recognize him. Weyrleader Cr'leb expanded that banishment to include all of Ierne Island Weyr's territory. The marriage between Aren and Sidret was annulled, and Aren released her claim on Greylen Hold to Lady Jianna, to be given to a worthy holder.
Aren is still adjusting to Weyr life and to her bond with Hallideth, but the future looks brighter than ever.

Physical Dragon : Hallideth has a deep, rich golden color and almost perfect proportions. She is already showing evidence that when she reaches her full growth, she will be one of the larger queens in the south.
Dragon's Personality:Still blessed with the innocence of the very young, Hallideth is very curious and willing to explore. Although she sometimes forgets how big she is, she is remarkably well-coordinated and has taken to flying and hunting with an ease that many of her clutchmates envy. She has a queen dragon's signature confidence, and fosters a deep, steadfast love for her rider.
