Physical Description: Briah is an averagely proportioned young girl whose thick black hair is always swept back in a ponytail. Her large green eyes and dimpled face give her a younger appearance -- pretty, but not beautiful. Her body type is easily fattened, but being a picky eater Briah doesn't usually have to worry about being fat.

Personality: Briah is what you might call "extremely hyperactive". As a young child she never stopped moving, and, although she managed to calm down as she got older, she still has problems with talking too long and fast. Most people think she is immature and strange, but inside her head, Briah comprehends much more than she lets on, and often uses her young-girl image as a cover-up.

Briah, in most cases, doesn't care about what other people think of her. She never does things to impress people and won't change the way she dresses, which is usually a sloppy pair of trousers and a loose shirt.

For most of her life, Briah's secret fantasy has been to become a dragon. The first time she saw the beautiful beasts of Pern soaring in the skies, Briah became obsessed with dragons. When she isn't working in the Hold kitchens, Briah is drawing or fantasising about dragons.

Life Story: The route of a handsome Southern Hold trader brought his train to TEH, and before Serah, a young, flighty Baker knew what was happening to her, she was seduced and with child by the time trader Brigan had left. When she gave birth to a young, active girl, she named her Briah and swore Lenna, the child's foster mother never to tell a soul she'd mothered the baby.

Briah soon became the "Hold's child": a guilt trip on every parent and a mystery; who were the parents of strange, hyperactive Briah? When the girl began to get inquisitive and weaseled information out of her foster mother, Serah left the hold and was never heard from again.

As she got older, Lenna decided it would be best to get Briah involved in a craft of some sort. The girl resisted any attempts to apprentice her at all (and so did several craftmasters who didn't want a hyperactive child) until Lenna finally managed to stick her into her mother's craft, Baking.

Briah's obvious desire to be a dragon often appeared as wanting to be a dragonrider and others around the Hold constantly teased her, calling names like "dragonrider wannabe" and "lil miss Goldrider", but all Briah wanted was to feel the freedom of flight and the power of fire. She supposed riding could be the next best thing, but wasn't sure until her first ride on the back of one the the beautiful beasts. Dragons, dragons, dragons! Lenna reprimanded the girl many times for neglecting work to watch, draw (which, in spite of her constant motion and stream of talk Briah was quite good at) and dream about dragons. When she found a live egg among a clutch of dead ones on the beach and brought it home, nobody expected her to impress, but when the thing hatched Briah exhibited amazing patience and a tenderness nobody knew she had. She befriended the little brown and named him Wyn.

Pet's Description: Wyn is a dark, dark brown firelizard that Briah impressed from an egg found on the beach. Nobody thought she'd impress the little flitter, but he survived and the two became inseparable. Briah began training Wyn to fetch things and deliver messages, and the little brown responded eagerly. Briah often brags that he's as smart as a bronze, and the flitter often does seem to have some shred of common sense.
