| GREEN RIDER C'ZENNOD |
![]()
Persona : C'zennod
Writing Status : NPC/Free
Age : 25
Gender : Male
Rank/Craft : Green Rider
Residence : Thread's End Weyr
Physical Description : His hair is of a color halfway between blond and brown, with the faintest of waves in it and constantly looking windblown. It falls into a natural part, and a thick strand of it insists on flopping in his eyes, causing him to unconsciously toss his head in an attempt to put it back in its place; it never works. Impish brown eyes twinkle above a smile that borders on impertinent, and long, elegant fingers can riff a deck of cards with the best of them. He's short, reaching 5'10" only if he has boots on. With thick heels. But, like Dycanth, he's slender and agile, with little fat on him.
Personality : C'zennod is generally carefree as an Old Earth Irishman on the day he's beaten the devil at his own game. He's a gambler when time or odds permit, and although he denies Bitran blood, he wins more often than not, whether at poker or runner races. His father, a seacrafter, taught him every way possible to cheat at cards (and C'zennod learned well), but he also instilled in his son a sense of fair play. The little greenrider doesn't cheat when playing with friends, and pranks aren't his style, but he can't resist taking a bet that he can't produce a pat hand right in front of the bettor without the other seeing how he did it. He usually wins those wagers, too.
Don't mistake C'zennod's geniality for flightiness, though. He has a nimble mind, and while he makes no claims to being a philosopher, he has no trouble following such conversations. He also has no qualms about standing up for his convictions. Before Impressing Dycanth such disagreements would have easily ended in an old-fashioned brawl (another art learned at his father's knee), but the unexpected arrival of the awkward little green cured him of that in short order, and he's since learned to hold his tongue. Most of the time.
Life Story : Born on the island of Ista, the son of a sailor and a petite young girl who bequeathed him his height (or lack thereof), C'zennod grew up working hardest at avoiding work. Not that he was afraid of work; on the contrary. If he decided someone needed helping, he'd help until his hands were blistered. But the decision had to be his own.
C'zennod grew up with a pack of other boys from the small hold near the Weyr, sometimes running with them, sometimes from them depending on whom he'd made look the fool that particular day. He was adept at evading capture -- being small gave him an edge in squeezing through small spaces others couldn't manage -- and he prided himself on knowing all the escape routes and hidey-holes in the area.
One of those escape routes led to the Hatching Sands at Ista Weyr, and in his fifteenth turn, C'zennod made the mistake of taking it in a moment of panic, six brawny boys on his tail and wanting to get even with him for his latest escapade. He hid just inside the end of the narrow passage, his breath coming in great gasps, unable to go forward for the unexpected sounds of a Hatching in progress and unable to retreat for fear of meeting up with the angry voices echoing from the bowels of the tunnel system. So far, his pursuers hadn't found the right cross-tunnel, but he was sure it wouldn't be long. Perhaps there was a way he could edge along behind the stands and sneak out. Ducking down, he poked his head out carefully -- only to find himself nose-to-snout with a small green dragonet, her eyes red-flecked with a combination of hunger and indignation that those bullies would be chasing her rider!
Nine turns later, C'zennod and Dycanth, now a seasoned fighting pair, transferred to Thread's End Weyr, both more mature than that day on the Hatching Sands.
Dragon's Name : Dycanth
Dragon's Colour : Green
Dragon's Age : 10
Sire and Dam : Transfer (Ista Weyr)
Age of Rider at Impression : 15
Dragon's Description : Dycanth is one of the smaller greens, and C'zennod is secretly pleased that they're the same in that regard. The color of one of the Ista emeralds so in demand for Holders' badges, Dycanth is well proportioned and moves with a fluid grace. She's agile and considered one of the quickest greens in the wing.
Dragon's Personality : Sweet-tempered most of the time, she enjoys leading her males a merry chase during a mating flight. Learned from C'zennod in his early days, no doubt.Last updated on 27-Jan-03.
