| GREENRIDER DEYA |
![]()
Persona : Deya
Writing Status : NPC/Owned
Age : 36
Gender : Female
Rank/Craft : Greenrider; Journeywoman Tanner
Residence : Thread's End Weyr
Physical Description : Deya is somewhat shorter than average, slender and obviously fit, as are most dragonriders. She has wide-set green eyes, and something of a snub nose, in a round face. Her hair is cut short and tends to go somewhat spiky when wet; when dry, it's mid-brown with a hint of red. Her left upper arm has a mess of old threadscore - the scars are faded but still visible.
Personality : Deya is the quiet sort, with a dry, understated sense of humour. Her preference is for a quiet, peaceful life, with as few dramas as is humanly possible; when that's not possible, she prefers to resolve problems quickly and directly. This leads her to have a low tolerance for baseless gossip, and a rather blunt way of telling people her feelings on the subject.
Apart from that, she's generally good natured and relaxed; quiet to the point of fading into the background at times.
Life Story : Born and raised in a small hold in Igen, Deya displayed a knack for dealing with the herdbeasts her small-holder father raised. Unfortunately, as time went on, she showed an equal or surpassing skill with the card games her Bitran mother taught her. Though she will not cheat in games with either Bitrans or dragonriders (anyone else is fair game), she can bottom-deal with the best of them, and considers practicing card tricks to be a way of keeping her hands skilful.
But there's not an apprenticeship in card-sharping, and her father wanted her to have a trade, not just the ability to fleece strangers taken in by her innocent looks and youth. Concerned about her future - she was the lastborn of seven, and the fifth daughter, her father made arrangements to have her apprenticed at Tannercraft Hall. Deya did well enough there, advancing to journeywoman in average time, with a particular skill in brain-tanning and dying butter-soft hides that could be sold for high profit.
She was Searched at the age of eighteen turns, and taken to Ista Weyr; although she did not Impress on her first two attempts, she decided to remain at the Weyr for a third and final try. It was, indeed, the final attempt, for the next hatching produced green Tyth.
Dragon's Name : Tyth
Dragon's Colour : Green
Dragon's Age : 18
Rider's Age at Impression : 18
Physical Dragon : Tyth is on the deeper side of green shading, somewhat lighter on her wing-sails. The leading edge of her left wing does have some old thread scoring, from a loose clump that caught her and her rider about ten turns back. She's on the small side, but not unduly so, and her lack of size is an asset in terms of maneuverability; in the air, she's able to change direction on a tailtip.
Dragon's Personality:Tyth is not so much relaxed as she is bordering on comatose, much of the time; give her a full belly and a warm place to lie and sun, and she's a happy dragon. The occasional admiring glance from a passing blue or brown dragon doesn't hurt either.
There are only a few activities that draw Tyth from her semi-permanent snooze: feeding is one. Another is Search - Tyth prides herself on finding good candidates that will Impress, even if not on their first try. Threadfall will always elicit a response from her - when Thread threatens, it's as though a whole other dragon appears in Tyth's skin - alert, absolutely focused, eager. The fourth activity, not surprisingly, is her own mating flights and the leadup to them, when she's suddenly active in an effort to show off for every male dragon who might possibly chase.
Pet Name : Gossip
Pet Species : Firelizard
Pet Color : Green
Pet Description : Gossip is a match for Tyth, physically - darkish green, small. But her personality is the polar opposite. Gossip is into everything possible; should a caller come to Deya and Tyth's weyr, they will be subjected to a chirped interrogation and long stares and, quite possibly, a green firelizard crawling all over them and their possessions. Her curiosity is absolutely insatiable about the least little thing.Last updated on 09-Aug-06.
