Physical Description : D'ral is a tall young man with straight black hair that falls in his eyes. He is constantly brushing his hair with the back of a hand or a flip of his head to be able to see more clearly. His height is about 6'3" tall, with a wiry frame but good muscles. His brown eyes give the appearance of sadness and concern, but there is still a bit of the boy in him and they twinkle with mischievousness at times as well.

Personality : D'ral is a young man in search of himself. He has not developed a strong sense of self confidence, and often reflects the low sense of self worth that was thrust upon him by an overbearing father who had no patience for his youngest son. He feels he is not good enough at anything he tries, and has so far shown no strong aptitude for any one thing in particular. He had been essentially just hanging on at the Harper Hall, because he had not yet learned to apply himself. His laugh is contagious, and his brown eyes often sparkle with playfulness, but when he is deep in concentration, or in a serious situation his eyes become dark and show his concern and soberness of the situation.

Life Story : Derallan was born the youngest son of holder Odlan. He was never fostered so spent his formative years at his father's hold. Odlan, a small holder in the Telgar area, was eager to make a name for himself and prove his worth as a small holder. He had little time for his youngest son and often pushed him aside when he was not capable of doing a "man's" job. This left the youngster emotionally scarred. When Green Ridge Hold was established, Odlan opted to relocate his whole family to Green Ridge Hold area. At that time, Derallan applied to Threads End Harper hall, and was accepted as an apprentice. Derallan recently returned "home" after surviving the rubella at TEHH to spend a few seven days with his family. Nothing had changed however, his father was still too busy to care that he almost lost his youngest son to the disease, and the two argued every time they saw each other while he was home. Derallan felt that no matter what he did it would never be good enough for his father. He had tried everything to get his approval it seemed with no favorable results. Derallan wanted to be the best at something in his life, something that shines out as a beacon saying I can do 'it', whatever 'it' turns out to be. But he felt that he was a humdrum individual that would never amount to much more than a youngest son of a holder. He and his father had a fight, so Derallan, forsaking the Harper Hall, made his way towards GRH proper, hoping to find something that he had a talent in so that he could hold his head high and show his father he could do something outstanding. On his way to Green Ridge Hold he was searched by K'hen and Bronze Wainalth, and taken back to IIW to await the hatching. Derallan worked in the beast hold most of the time he was waiting on the hatching and helped with the butchering of most of the Weyr's meat offerings. When he stood the sands on hatching day, he found his purpose in life and his life partner in Brown Mystereth. His name after that day was D'ral.

His brown hide is the color of deep dark mud, akin to klah that has been left too long in a cup.
