![]()
Persona : Dr'mik
Writing Status : NPC/Free
Age : 53
Gender : Male
Rank/Craft : Brown Rider, Wing Second TEW/UFRF; Apprentice Smith
Residence : Thread's End Weyr
Physical Description : Dr'mik is of average height and weight with broad shoulders developed first, from his turns of smithing as a young boy, and further from handling bags of firestone over his 37 Turns of riding a dragon. He has a broad, square weathered face with a generous mouth, gray-green eyes and tends to keep his once brown hair cut quite short.
Personality : As sociable as his dragon, Dr'mik tends to enjoy himself, and life, to the fullest. He enjoys women but most of his relationships can't compete with his love for Crimith and, after a few Turns, they tend to fade into friendship. He has two daughters and a son. His youngest daughter, Andlina, was able to redeem his family's blood line by being apprenticed at Thread's End Harpercraft Hall. Adrinkna, the eldest, Impressed a green at Thread's End Weyr and recently transferred to Ierne Island Weyr. His son, Duelank, is currently apprenticed as a smith, with hopes of specializing in the making of glassware.
Dr'mik can often be found in the Dining Cavern involved in a game of dragon poker or enjoying the sounds of a harper, even if he knows better than to try to sing. Fond of ale, he often dallies with brewing, bartering for hops and other ingredients as needed. He still enjoys smithing and makes all his own metal pieces for Crimith's harness. He often attends local Gathers where he displays his metal work earning him the odd mark or two.
He's level-headed, easy going, and good at mediating between parties. It was those traits that got him transferred to Right Fore.
Life Story : Born 16 Turns before Thread's return, Druemik's childhood was filled with the heroic tales of dragonriders. Growing up in a large Hold (where both his parents were harpers and the Lord Holder a traditionalist who fulfilled his duty to Igen Weyr without fail), Druemik was well versed in dragon lore. He learned from an early age to be respectful and appreciative toward those that were the protectors of Pern. And so his dream was born.
Although both his parents had above average musical abilities, Druemik was born tone deaf. Within three turns of his birth, his parents realized that harpering would not be in young Druemik's future. With that knowledge, they went to great lengths to expose him to the many crafts vital to a Hold, and to Pern's, welfare. By the time he reached his 12th birthingday, he was assigned to the forge. There, under the watchful eye of a Senior Journeyman Smith, he started his smithing journey.
The iron gave him an outlet for his creative talent as well as a way to be a contributing member of his Hold, and he did enjoy seeing cold steel bars turn into either intricate shapes or useful utensils. Still, it didn't fulfill his ultimate dream of someday becoming a dragonrider. Yet, even though the Weyr's golds were laying larger clutches in anticipation of Thread, each Search left him longing to be found.
At 16 Turns, he was sent off for his final training at Smith Hall prior to walking the tables. Thread's return forced the caravan he was traveling in to seek refuge at Igen Weyr. While there, his dream finally came true and he was Searched. There were two clutches on the sand and the first Hatching passed him by. Because of the Search dragon's recommendation, he was encouraged to stay at the Weyr for the next Hatching where once again he was left standing alone on the sands. When encouraged again to stay until the next Clutch, he was hesitant. Perhaps it would be better if he continued his training and earned his Journeyman's knot instead of waiting on a dream that may never happen. The Weyr's senior smith liked the lad and offered to continue his training if he would consider staying on. Druemik finally agreed.
Half a Turn later, at Druemik's third Hatching, his dream came true. The egg that everyone had wagered wouldn't hatch did, and from it crawled the smallest brown every to hatch at Igen Weyr. With no hesitation, the brown knew who he wanted and so Druemik became in that moment, Dr'mik, rider of brown Crimith.
Dr'mik and Crimith flew with Igen Weyr for five Turns before being asked to transfer to the newest Weyr, Thread's End, in the Southern Continent. Twenty Turns later, Dr'mik was promoted to Wingsecond. The pair has flown, at one time or another, in nearly every Wing and has only recently been transferred to Right Fore.
Dragon's Name : Crimith
Dragon's Colour : Brown
Dragon's Age : 37
Sire and Dam : Transfer (Igen Weyr)
Age of Rider at Impression : 16
Dragon's Description : Being hatched smaller than the average brown dragon has never slowed Crimith down. Eager to prove himself, Crimith has found a way to take advantage of his slight stature. He has found that being small has given him an advantage in green flights, allowing him nearly as much agility in the air as a blue dragon and the greater endurance of a brown. His hide is the color of dark, undiluted klah with the slightest bit of graying around his muzzle due to age. He has many scars from his long Turns of fighting Thread.
Dragon's Personality : The Turns have mellowed Crimith's need to prove himself and he finds that he doesn't need to participate in as many green flights as he once did. Still, he's a very sociable dragon and especially enjoys working with the young dragons just joining the wing.Last updated on 3-Jan-04.
