GOLD WEYRLING EVIQUE

Persona : Evique
Writing Status : PC/Active
Age : 23
Gender : Female
Rank/Craft : Gold Weyrling
Residence : Thread's End Weyr

Physical Description : Evique keeps her thick dark hair cut short so as to be as little bother as possible, giving the impression of a fluffy animal draped across her head. Her hazel eyes sparkle with a mischievous nature, although the dark shadows under them speak of hardships and disappointments that have threatened to put out that playful spark. The sunlight of the southern continent brings out a scattering of small, dark brown freckles on her skin, which turns a light bronze colour.

Standing at average height, Evique is lean and, while she has given birth to three children, her body has not had the opportunity to soften, as she and her husband have been kept hard at work on their little cothold.

Personality : All of her life, Evique has known what was expected of her: to be a good wife, a good mother and a clever cotholder’s wife. Evique learned her harper lessons well and is intelligent, although few people realise this, as she is a quiet person who is more than happy to let her husband be the centre of attention. Although she never complains, Evique craves company other than that of her husband, children, mother-in-law and the few helpers who live with them and she relishes the chance to visit new places.

While not discontent with her life, after all she has three children who she adores, Evique is saddened by the fact that her husband’s heart belongs to someone else. Although he has never been anything other than kind to his wife, Evique knows her husband married her to ally with her parents rather than for love and so she feels as though something is missing from her life: the knowledge that someone loves her unconditionally for who she is.

Life Story Evique’s family moved to the South soon after Thread’s End Hold had been established and were granted land for their cotholding. From the time she could walk and carry out simple tasks, Evique was put to use around her parent’s cothold and as she grew older, the girl was given a greater number of tasks, including looking after her younger siblings while her parents worked in the fields of their farming cothold.

The travelling healer who visited the cothold on his rounds once tried to convince Evique’s parents to send her to the Healer Hall at Fort after he discovered she had a talent for mending simple wounds but her parents refused – they needed every one of their offspring to help carve out a life in the Southern Continent. After this point Evique resigned herself to the fact that she would never be anything other than a cotholder’s child or wife and quickly stamped out all the hopes she had held for a life that was not full of dirt and toil.

At sixteen Evique accepted her father’s choice for a husband, a young farmer by the name of Garheic who had recently been awarded land near to their own holding. Garheic was a good man, but soon after their wedding it became clear to Evique that he did not intend to give up his lover, a woman named Hijal who worked with the burdenbeasts at his cothold. Evique tried not to let this development dishearten her too greatly and she threw herself into keeping the cothold running, being the one to total up the accounts and manage domestic duties while her husband and his workers were in the fields. A little over a Turn after her wedding to Garheic, Evique gave birth to her only son and the convalescence meant that her husband invited his mother to oversee Evique’s duties for a while.

Evique found some sympathy from her mother-in-law, a woman with a good sense of humour and a lively spirit, but there was nothing either of them could do about Garheic’s affections and so the matter was left as it was.

In the following turns Evique gave birth to two more children, and turned her affections to them as her husband would never reciprocate her feelings for him. It seemed as though the love for her children would be all Evique could hope for in her life to keep her from completely despairing.

Evique never thought that she would be worthy of a dragon lifemate, after all what did she know of dragons and their riders? She was content to work at the Weyr until the hatching was over and done with and then, at least, she could say she had tried before returning to her family at Spring's Grace Cothold. She was surprised, and awestruck, then when the Gold of the hatching at Thread's End Weyr quite firmly decided that Evique was to be her rider. At first, Evique could think of nothing but her golden lifemate, but as Daisth went to sleep the night of her hatching, Evique was suddenly faced with the realities of her new position.

Lord Holder Carrisus witnessed the dissolving of Evique's marriage to Garheic, the hatching having made Evique's choice after so many Turns of Garheic not being able to chose between her and Tusina, his mistress. She also realised that she would only be able to see her children infrequently until Daisth was able to go /between/ and this hurt her more than anything. Yet she knew that she would get through her melancholy because, when it came down to it, she would not replace Daisth for all the world.

Dragon's Name : Daisth
Dragon's Colour : Gold
Dragon's Age : Less than 1 Turn
Sire/Dam : Bronze Ramalth and Gold Tarmath
Rider's Age at Impression : 23

Physical Dragon : Physically, Daisth is quite average for a gold hatching, being about mid-sized except for a slightly shorter tail than usual that causes her a little problem with balancing. Evique has been assured that as the gold grows, the tail will sort itself out. Daisth is a rich, medium gold all over and as yet has not had cause to have her hide marred by any marks.

Dragon's Personality:As Daisth remarked to her mother only moments after she hatched, the little gold realises she has a lot of growing to do and she fully intends to be as big as Tarmath, even if that means eating day and night. From the day of her hatching, Daisth has shown herself to have a very sharp tongue, more so that most people would believe of a hatchling, and she has little patience when she knows what she wants and how to get something done her way (which, according to Daisth, is always the right way).

Daisth is well aware of her standing within the Weyr and is not afraid of throwing her weight around a bit - although she is more often than not kept in check by the adult queens, the weyrlingmaster or Evique herself. If there is one thing everyone is sure about, it is that Evique is certainly going to have her hands full making sure that Daisth learns to behave.
