JOURNEYMAN HARPER GARCHIN

Persona : Garchin
Writing Status : PC/Active
Age : 27
Gender : Male
Rank/Craft : Journeyman Harper
Craft Specialty : Archives, Scribing
Residence : Thread's End HarperCraft Hall

Physical Description : Garchin is tall and lanky with an almost runner physic. He had brown eyes and blonde hair which is beginning to thin, and he brushes it straight back off his face. He has a large mouth and an even larger nose, which you don’t notice as he is smiling so much all the time.

Personality : Over the top, exuberant, exhausting. Sunny doesn’t even get close to describing Garchin, he is literally too much. He loves life and wants to experience as much as it as he can... which is a strange facet to a man that buries himself for hours, days, even weeks, studying old hides in his search of Pern’s history. The only time Garchin is ever not hyper is when people come to him for advice. As if a set of clothes he can put on and off, He will settle himself and be perfectly serious, kind and wise toward how ever needs his help... and it is this that makes him a good teacher.

Life Story : Garchin was born to a lower cavern woman of a Northen Weyr. He never knew his father as the Bluerider died of a thread score before he was even born, or at least that was what he was told. His mother - Graceleena – did not foster him out, but raised him, along with various other boys and girls Grachin now considers his siblings, to take whatever joy they could from their lives and live them fully.

For all that Garchin grew up in a Weyr, he was never really serious about becoming a Dragonrider. He loved and was fascinated by the beasts yet instead of hanging around them, he would haunt the old uncles and aunties that his mother, along with a few other ladies, would take generous care of. Here he heard all sorts of stories and tales. This, along with his close friendship with one of his foster-brothers, son of the Archive keeper of the Weyr, spawned his deep interest in the past of Pern.

He was sent to the Harper hall by a tearful mother and gained his Journeyman’s knot quickly, for all his exuberance, Garchin paid attention in class and rarely had to be retaught a thing. He walked the tables with a speciality in scribing but can also play the pipes remarkably well. In the other areas of harpering, however, he is average at best.

His first posting was as a travelling harper back in his home mountains, since the Hall theorised he would be used to the snowy conditions. However when Southern called for more teachers as their apprentice numbers were swelling, Garchin’s contract was shifted and he was sent to Thread’s End.
