Physical Description : Janella is short, with dark red hair and green-gray eyes. She prefers to wear nondescript colors, and long sleeves because she sunburns easily. Her clothes are often worse for wear, and she usually has at least one scratch on her hands, arms or face. She has a soothing alto voice, and can sing well when she wants to.

Personality : She seems to be something of a recluse, spending most of her free time searching for new herbs that might be useful. She has a natural aptitude for finding and using herbs for healing. She is usually shy and quiet, but when around her friends she is more out-going.

Life Story : She was born in Benden Hold, and migrated with her parents to Sonnette's Dawn Hold when she was three. Her father was a farmer, but he was killed by a feline a year before she became an apprentice at thirteen. The loss of her father affected her deeply, and she dealt with her grief by immersing herself in her studies. While gathering specimines of seaweed on a distant beach, she discovered a clutch of fire-lizard eggs. She reported the clutch to her master, and was allowed to keep two for herself.

Pet Description : Kia is still rather young, only a few months old. She tends to be vain, and preens almost constantly. She has a voracious appetite, and prefers wherry to any other type of meat. She isn't very friendly to other people, but always tries to impress other fire-lizards. She can usually be found on Janella's right shoulder, and if not, she's probably sunning herself on the roof. She refuses to carry messages, but will chatter constantly, to anybody, if not admonished.

Pet Description : Deran is also rather young, and came from the same clutch as Kia. He is larger than his sister, but eats less, and has a much more mellow personality. He is content to to sit on Janella's left shoulder most of the time. Deran will carry messages faithfully, and is very well trained. He almost never makes any noise at all, except to hum melodically when Janella sings.
