Physical Description: Jianna is a tall, slender woman. Her straight dark hair is beginning to show a few strands of silver and is usually worn pulled back at the nape of her neck. Her eyes are a dark blue.

Personality: Groomed early to inherit the responsibility of managing a prosperous Hold in the north, the assumption of authority sits comfortably on her shoulders, and Holderfolk look naturally to her for leadership and guidance. She is even-handed in judgements, and the welfare of her Hold and its people are the base of her decisions. A quiet, sometimes too-serious woman, her laughter nevertheless comes easily and reveals a warmth to those who know her well. She is slow to anger, but that anger is fierce when aroused.

Life Story: Born in a northern Hold, the eldest of three children, Jianna understood early in life the the title of Lady Holder would someday be hers. At a young age she was betrothed to the son of a not-too-distant Hold, and although time passed and both younglings grew to young adulthood, the actual marriage seemed always to be postponed because of one happenstance or another.

Then when she was 20, she fell in love with her father's recently-acquired Master herder. His name was Konnor, and he wore his newly-earned master's knot with pride. Her father denied her request to be released from the betrothal and sent the herder from the Hold on threat of disownment of his daughter. Eventually she married her original betrothed, Jarredd, although a son was born too soon to be a result of their marriage. Jianna called him Garitt and named him heir. Two other sons followed as turns passed; the youngest, Tharren, was a dreamer and a singer and had never a thought other than to be a harper.

However, the second son, Caledd, chafed at being second, and when it was learned that a new Hold would be created near Ierne Island, Jianna was able to secure the Holding for him. Caledd still remains turns away from assuming Lordship, and until that time, Jianna Holds as Lady at Green Ridge with only occasional trips north to check on Garitt's supervision of the Hold in the north.

During month 5 of turn 37, her husband, Lord Jarredd, who had remained in the north, was killed in an accident, leaving her a widow. Caledd chose to remain in the north after the funeral, confessing his terror at the thought of the responsibility accompanying the position of Lord Holder. For the time, he remains with his brother in the north, learning in what seems to him a more comfortable atmosphere with less pressure and fewer expectations.

During month 10 of turn 37, Jianna and Master Herder Konnor, of Sonnette's Dawn Hold were married in a simple ceremony, with Lady Anlie of Sonnette's Dawn presiding. The marriage was not met with approval by all the members of the Conclave, but their official acceptance or rejection remains to be seen. Both Jianna and Konnor continue their duties at their respective Holds, although they both now make more opportunities to be together.
