GUARD CAPTAIN OLLOS

Persona : Ollos
Writing Status : NPC/Free
Age : 26
Gender : Male
Rank/Craft : Captain of the Guard
Residence : Sonnette's Dawn Hold

Physical Description : Ollos is 5'10" tall with strong, stocky build. He has dark brown hair which he keeps short, light brown, sharp eyes that miss little, strong nose and wide mouth with thin lips. While he is not traditionally handsome, there is certain charisma about him that makes him roguishly attractive. He has a jagged scar on his left arm that he's known to relate to a past encounter with a vicious holdless party - the reality behind the scar is one of those silly everyday accidents that none of us wish to remember.

Personality : Many consider Ollos to be fiercely loyal to Sonnette's Dawn Hold, brave, conscientious and honest. While he himself is acutely aware of his failings, as someone once pointed out to him, there can be no bravery where there is no fear. Driven by a desire to protect others, Ollos dislikes seeing anyone in pain and doesn't believe that torture could ever get the truth out of anyone. He has a strong moral fibre and he believes in justice for all. That doesn't make him blind to the fact that everyone is human and thus capable of making errors. It's up to the individual if they want to make up for them - and if they do, Ollos for one is ready to help them in that.

Life Story : Coming from of a long line of Hold Guards, his great grandfather having been the Captain of the Guard at one of the Northern Holds, it now seems only natural that Ollos has followed the family trade, but things weren't always so. He was in his early teens when his parents moved to Thread's End Hold from the North. It was there that Ollos fell in with the wrong sort of crowd, and eventually a few of his new 'friends' were involved in major theft. Torn between his loyalty to his friends and his sense of right and wrong, Ollos eventually confessed witnessing the theft - only to find himself being blamed for it by those he had assumed were his friends!

It was a long and painful process for the boy to clear his reputation, harder still to clear that of his only real friend, who had been subjected to what could only be classified as torture and had confessed to a crime he hadn't committed. The real criminal was eventually proven guilty and cast out as a holdless. Turns later Ollos heard that his one-time-acquaintance had been caught raiding a cothold and sentenced to the mines.

By the time Ollos turned sixteen, he had already decided that he, too, would become a hold guard, to help keep order and protect those who obeyed the laws against those who didn't. His father's reputation - as well as his own prowess in the skills needed in the job - helped Ollos secure the position of a Junior Guardsman at Sonnette's Dawn Hold, where he has served since then.

Though many consider him young for the Captain of the Guard's position, Ollos is determined to show everyone that Lady Anlie's choice of a new captain to replace the old, corrupted one wasn't a mistake.
