Persona : Rinavan
Writing Status : PC/Active
Age : 24
Gender : Male
Rank/Craft : CAndidate/Apprentice Dolphineer
Residence : TEW
Physical Description : Rinavan is somewhat taller than average, with close-cut red-blond hair that the sun and salt water often bleach pale during summer. Between that and his fair skin, in summer he generally either has a sunburn or has the remains of one, unless he's very careful. He has pale blue eyes, and a ready smile. He's lean and fit, having been active all his life, and is physically graceful.
Personality : Rinavan's natural personality is relaxed and patient. It's not that he's lazy - far from it - but he prefers not to hurry; things happen in their own time, as far as he's concerned. He attributes that trait to both growing up as the son of farmers - "nobody ever hurried a crop," he says - and to working with dolphins and the sea. Nobody ever pushed a dolphin into doing something it didn't want to do, and you can't turn the tide around out of schedule. He enjoys life at his own pace, and fully involves himself in whatever the moment brings. He's curious about things he doesn't know, generally easygoing, and is possessed of a quiet sense of humour that certainly came in handy in his apprenticeship.
Life Story : Rinavan's parents were among the earliest settlers at Sonnette's Dawn Hold when it was founded in Turn 20: six-turns-old Rinavan accompanied them. Unfamiliar with tides and waves - they'd previously lived inland in the north - he started to investigate this mysterious 'ocean' thing, not realising how easy it was for a non-swimmer to get into trouble in a rip. Fortunately, dolphins were nearby and brought him back to shore. He didn't understand the fuss the adults made over his near-drowning; he was only concerned about getting back in the water to play with the dolphins again. From then on, it seemed only natural that he would become a dolphineer. He apprenticed as soon as he was allowed, and spent as much time in the water as he could, making friends with dolphins in the Dolphin Hall pods.
However, he never made journeyman; a green dragon searched him and took him to Thread's End Weyr. Although he failed in that attempt, he has stayed at the Weyr and been a candidate at several more hatchings, never successfully - and he's mostly convinced himself now that Impression won't happen. Nevertheless, he stays, working with the dolphins of North Kahrain pod, and lending a hand with the fisherfolk or lower caverns staff as needed as well.
