GREEN RIDER S'BHAC

Persona : S'bhac
Writing Status : NPC/Free
Gender : Male
Age : 20
Rank/Craft : Green Rider
Residence : Ierne Island Weyr

Physical Description : S'bhac is fairly tall, slender yet well-muscled, with close-cropped blonde hair, inviting blue eyes, and a mischievous, ready smile. His hands are large and long-fingered, rather awkward looking but very expressive when he gestures. He has a unique sense of style and often appears dressed in flamboyant, colorful costumes, giving the impression of some exotic avian.

Personality : It's almost impossible not to like S'bhac, as his natural openness and kind heart, not to mention his own individual flair, give him an inexplicable charm that draws in those around him. While he can seem (and, in fact, often is) either flighty or capricious, this is not due as much to a lack of commitment as it is to a broad intellect and wide variety of interests. S'bhac wants to try it all! He's also very willing to include others in his activities, whether or not they have any experience. Wherever he goes, he gathers a close circle of comrades and friends, a group of young people who become known for their excitability, entertaining escapades, and for their occasional troublemaking. When he does get into trouble, as long as the punishment is meted out justly, the weyrling accepts it without question... and it rarely stops him from trying again!

Life Story : The third child born to two Telgar cotholders, Siobhac (pronounced shi-VAHK) never doubted that he would have an exciting life. He was certain he would not marry and settle down with a wife, for the only interest he ever showed in girls was an interest in their clothes, makeup and jewelry - and it was not a purely objective interest! The boy's parents had hoped their only son would inherit the family farm, but this was contingent upon Siobhac's being able to raise a family and father sons in his own turn - something, it was quite clear, would never happen. The family was not intolerant of Siobhac's inclinations, but neither were they supportive. His two sisters suffered with mild annoyance his continual pilfering of their things, and his parents urged him to apprentice to a craft as soon as possible.

Siobhac himself, however, found no craft to be of particular interest to him - he would rather dabble a little bit in many different things. However, he recognized that he could not count on the continued support of his family, and so at age twelve, he joined up with a traveling caravan of Traders and with them wandered across much of the northern continent. His natural charisma, charm, and persuasiveness made him an apt salesman, and the traders were quite happy to have him remain with them. When the caravan was stopped outside Southern Boll Hold, a bluerider from Ierne Island caught Siobhac's eye. His natural charisma, charm, and persuasiveness were good for more than encouraging customers, and it wasn't difficult for Siobhac to convince the dragonrider to take him back to the Weyr.

This was S'bhac's first real experience with weyrlife, and he took to it like a fish to water. The open attitudes and general sexual permissiveness sat well with him, and he happily flitted from one man to another, working around the Weyr as he was able. When Ierne's first clutch was on the sands, Siobhac was searched by the same dragon who had first brought him to Ierne. At the hatching, he Impressed green Raigarath and became known as S'bhac.

Dragon's Name : Raigarath
Dragon's Colour : Green
Dragon's Age : 2
Sire and Dam : Bronze Reth and Gold Blyth (IIW35-1)
Age of Rider at Impression : 18

Dragon's Description : Raigarath is a small, delicate dragon with a smooth hide the color of unripened apples on Earth. S'bhac believes that her small size will lend her greater agility in flight, making her skilled both in fighting thread and in eluding her mating flight pursuers. (He's especially looking forward to that last part - these weyrling restrictions are awfully hard on him!)

Dragon's Personality : Like her rider, Raigarath is generally cheerful and lighthearted, friendly almost to a fault and interested in everything anyone has to say. Naturally, her memory is limited, but S'bhac finds that she is much more likely to forget an experience if it involves someone who has been unfriendly to her - in other words, she couldn't hold a grudge even if she tried! While she disapproves of her rider's more outlandish escapades - in theory, at least - she is usually too fascinated to give him much of an argument, and never ever says "I told you so."
