Physical Description : Tain is 5 foot 1 inch tall, lightly built and has shoulder length, straight blonde hair which is beginning to grow grey. Her face is not classically beautiful, she has green eyes, a pale complexion and a rather wide mouth. She smiles a lot and has an infectious giggle.

Personality : Tain is a bubbly sort of person,she likes to talk and to tell stories. She is intensely loyal to those who have gained her trust and will do anything in her power to help them. People who don't know her too well think of her as an extrovert but she is inherently quite shy.

She has sad moments at times when she finds it difficult to maintain her sense of equilibrium but keeps herself busy and mentally active which helps a lot.

Life Story : Tain was born in the High Reaches area, the only daughter of a cotholder. When she was twelve her parents died of a fever. The harper for the area deemed her a possible harper apprentice and after assessment, though she had no good singing voice, she was accepted at the Harpercrafthall at Fort. She trained as a flautist but her main talent is that of deciphering and copying. She is a brilliant calligrapher and earns extra marks making decorative scrolls of many occasions. She loves the challenge of teaching the young.

Once she had walked the tables she travelled in the Nerat area teaching the children of outlying cotholders. She met her husband Petalin, a journeyman healer and had two children, Robain and Hila. He was killed in a runnerbeast accident when her younger child was three turns old. She could not face living in the north after this and applied for a transfer to the southern continent. Her application was approved and she moved south. She contined to teach children as a peripatetic journeywoman harper. She met another man whilst at the Harperhall in the south, a journeyman beastcrafter called Jilmis and and for a time was happy.

Then disaster struck, Jilmis was killed, like her husband in a runnerbeast accident and she decided to return to the north. Whilst there, her son Robain was accepted as an apprentice by the Harperhall and her daughter Hila, having decided to become a dolphineer was fostered with a relation at the main northern Dolphinhall.

Tain faced a dilemma. What was she to do? Both continents now held unhappy memories. Both her partners had been killed in runnerbeast related accidents so she wanted any contact with the said creatures to be kept to a minimum. Peripatetic journeying was therefore to be avoided at all costs.

The solution was to take a position at one of the weyrs, crafthalls or holds. When word came that Threads End Weyr was looking for a harper she decided to apply and arrived at the Weyr at the end of month 8, turn 38.
